On the Way to Work
To get to my university classes, I usually take the tram, followed by a 10 minute walk. I took advantage of the last nice weather we had to take pictures of some of the beautiful sights and landmarks I walk past.
This is the back of the Imperial Palace (Zamek). I love the nicely tended gardens.

This palace was built in the early 1900s and was turned into a residence for Hitler during WWII. Now, it is a cultural center with art galleries and concerts.
Across from the Zamek, in Adam Miczkiewicz Square, are the monuments to the 1956 Protests.

(This Wikipedia picture is much better than mine.)
These protests were one of the first against the Communist Regime. This monument was one of the first initiatives of the Solidarity Movement.
Poznań is definitely a college town. I pass by buildings for several of them.
The super-mod Academy of Music:

The circular, glass building is their concert hall.
The University of Economics “skyscraper”:

This is the tallest building in town by a significant margin.
As well as some of the smaller trade schools:

This is the International Bartender and Sommelier School. Yes, the Polish word for “bartender” is barman.
Obviously, I could include a picture of the building where I teach. However, it’s pretty ghetto, so I won’t detract from today’s theme.
